Due to so many reasons, many beautiful and amazing birds are getting very rare. Mostly due to ecological reasons, birds are becoming extinct with each single day. The following are the list of top 10 rarest birds in the world.
10. Mauritius Kestral :
This bird belongs to the Falcon Family and is found in Mauritius Islands in Indian Ocean. This bird was leading towards extinction, but fortunately there are now 800 mature birds of this specific kind due to human efforts.
9. Pink Pigeon:
This is one of the most beautiful birds you will ever see in the world. This bird is found in Mauritius. Only 70 pigeons are left currently and are in great danger to extinct.
8. Kakapo or Owl Parrot:
Kakapo is a native bird of New Zealand. There are only 125 birds left of this kind. This particular bird cannot fly and this is the only species of flightless parrot all over the world.
7. Magpie robin:
This is a small bird, has a long tail and has a beautiful blue colored skin. This bird is only found in Asian or African continents. There are many types of these birds and all the different kinds are different from each other. And even these birds are in great danger of extinction.
6. Imperial Amazon or Imperial Parrot or Dominicon Amazon or August Amazon or Sisserou:
This is a beautiful bird with muilti- color of pattern on its skin. This parrot or bird is only found in Dominica. Currently there are only 250 birds of this kind alive.
5. Katovar or Maritious Parakeet or Echo Parakeet:
These birds are found in South Indian Ocean which is near Madagascar. In the early 1980, these birds were near extinction, as there were only 10 birds left. Fortunately today there are 300 of them, but they’re still in great amount of danger to become extinct.
4. Black Stilt:
This bird is only found in New Zealand. This thin and long legged bird is very rare and in complete danger of extinction. There are only 25 birds left of this kind and in 1994 there were 119 birds.
3. Hawaiian Crow:
This is a very rare crow which is only found in the Hawaii Island. Only 56 birds are seen in the San Diego zoo and they are extinct in the wild. In ancient times, Hawaiian society considered this bird as a Family God, which now sadly is becoming extinct.
2. Cebu Flowerpecker:
This is a small bird which is found in the region of Cebu Island in The Philippines. Total birds left are about 100 only and they are in great danger of becoming an extinct bird. This bird was believed to be extinct in the early 20th century, but then it was seen in Cebu Island 92’.
1. Spix’s Macaw
This is a unique kind of parrot, which is found in Brazil. This species was originally discovered by Johan Bapist Von Spix, a German Naturalist in 1817. As at year 2010 there are approximately 85 Spix’s Macaws in captivity. 77 of these are participating in an international breeding program managed by the Institute Chico Mendes of Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), the Natural Heritage Branch of the Brazilian Government. 60 of these are managed at Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation (AWWP), State of Qatar, which took over the population of Birds International and where a captive breeding program is guiding Spix’s Macaw a step closer to re-establishment back to its natural habitat in Brazil. Spix’s Macaws are critically endangered and had extinct in the wild.
